Barents Re Appoints Head of Facultative for Latin America

Barents Re is announcing today the appointment of Javier Mercado as Head of Facultative for Latin America. Javier will have a particular focus on developing the Financial Lines portfolio of business in Latin America. Javier will be based in the Miami office and will report to Gary Callaghan, Head of Business Development & Retrocession.

Javier Mercado has over 10 years’ experience in the insurance sector inclusive of financial lines, commercial insurance, cyber, M&A insurance, business development, financial analysis, marketing and new product development. Javier joins from AIG in Miami where he led the Liability business for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
